Description:The Physician Practice Manager works collaboratively with practice physicians to ensure the efficient and effective daily operation of the practice including the supervision and evaluation of the practice staff. Oversees all practice operations, budget and work flows within the medical practice to ensure Sigma Medical Group policies and procedures are in effect. This position requires critical thinking skills and working special projects as assigned. The Physician Practice Manager must be supportive of all Human Resources guidelines by example as well as coaching and mentoring staff.
Duties:
  • Direct and supervise the day-to-day functions of assigned practices in accordance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations.
  • Perform all fiscal management responsibilities for the practices. Monitor all records of expense, revenue and payroll on a monthly basis. Report variances and reason for the variances to physicians and Executive Director. Understand the physician income statements thoroughly. Address questions regarding physician charges and expenses. Act as a liaison for the financial analyst.
  • Provide education, guidance, recognition, leadership and professional development to practice staff. Perform HR functions for the practices(recruiting, orientation, performance review, training, discipline). Address and coordinate staff training needs. Assess and develop staffing strategies for practice(s).
  • Analyze processes involving physician access, telephone management, and staff utilization. Reengineer any of the above processes to ensure maximum cost-effectiveness and productivity.
  • Build key relationships with significant contacts; specifically practice physicians, Human Resources, Central Billing, Accounting/Payroll, and Department Heads/Supervisors.
  • Qualifications:
  • Expert knowledge of practice management and administration;
  • Advanced ability to interpret, implement and develop Sigma Medical Group and St. Elizabeth Regional Health policies and procedures;
  • Proficient ability to consult and build positive relationships with co-workers and staff;
  • Proficient ability to develop and design material for presentation to audiences of all sizes; and
  • Proficient mathematical reasoning skills.
