Receptionist/Charge Entry Clerk

Description:The Receptionist position performs daily administrative operations to support the physician practices and staff at the Neighborhood Clinic.
Duties: Basic Office Skills
  • Answering a multi-line phone/transferring calls/taking messages.
  • Filing charts and papers in alphabetical order.
  • Performs charge entry on incoming patients.
  • Acts as back-up for medical records.
  • Assists patients and ensures appropriate paperwork is completed before appointments.
  • Ensures new patient chart is prepared.
  • Receiving and tracking dictations.
  • Faxing and receiving of patient information.
  • Responsible for collecting payments, providing receipts, handles the cash drawer and balances the cash drawer at the end of the day.
  • Various other duties per physician’s request.

    Customer Service
  • Provides patients with one-on-one services.
  • Appears friendly, smiling and courteous
  • Registers patient’s information into the system.
  • Provides patient with appropriate appointments with proper time allotted.
  • Provides patients with accurate information on billing questions, insurance issues, etc.
  • Open communication with physicians and other staff members.

    Teamwork
  • May be called on to float to other offices.
  • Available to perform as back-up for medical records
  • Qualifications:
  • Computer skills required.
  • Good communication skills required.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task

    Minimum Position Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • The qualified candidate must have at least 1 year receptionist experience in physician office or clinic; prefer some experience in medical terminology, insurance, managed care and referrals; and experienced in medical insurance admission procedures.
